About Aves Photography!

Aves Photography was born out of a lifetime passion for photography. While we offer a wide variety of services, we specialize in portraiture and pet photography.

Anyone can take a snapshot. Photography is easier than ever now, with digital technology at everyone's fingertips. However, consistently capturing beautiful, well-composed, artfully lit photographs requires the skill, equipment, and knowledge of a professional.

That's where we come in. In your own home, at a public event, or even in a natural setting, Aves can capture artful, detailed, lasting images of you, your animal friend, or any subject of your choosing. We'll work with you until we've captured exactly the images you want, help you with printing and production options, and present you with a finished product.

Meet the Photographer

Scott Johnson is a professional photographer with more than 20 years' experience capturing images for commercial clients, newspapers, magazines, and the World Wide Web. He is a professional member of the National Press Photographers Association.

Equally proficient with both film and digital photography, he believes that the learning process and professional growth of a photographer are never quite complete. Scott's major influences include Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Steichen, Cornell Capa, and Ansel Adams.

A native of Charlottesville, Virginia, Scott has lived in the Atlanta area since 1995. A true animal lover, he seems to have a way with animals that has made pet photography a natural fit. He's an expert handler and trainer of exotic birds and shares his household with a blue and gold macaw, a female red-sided eclectus parrot and a green-cheeked conure, along with a dog, two cats, and a teenager. He is engaged to Allison Burnes, who takes care of them all when Scott's busy playing with cameras.

Meet the Crew

Allison Burnes is in charge of all the hard work that goes on when we're not taking pictures, and is also of invaluable assistance during our photo sessions. An amateur photographer for many years, Allison is also an experienced carpenter, a former animal rescue group organizer, a writer and a gifted artist. She holds an advanced degree in education and is a mother of three, two of whom are also involved with Aves Photography.

Allison schedules our events and photo sessions, constructs our sets and props, and handles the taking and filling of orders. She manages the office, keeps the crew moving, and cares for the equipment and the photographer.

Chelsea Burnes is our sales department, as well as having the duty of standing in as model when equipment or techniques need to be tested. She is comfortable with most animals and is learning to train and handle exotic birds. She is also a student of education and is presently working toward certification as a Child Development Specialist.

Raymond Burnes is a talented artist who is currently studying visual communications at North Metro Technical College. He is the designer of the Aves Photography logo, and assists with our photo sessions and post-production.
